Hello All,

I am working on an updated post for the TI

MSP-EXP430F5438

experimenter's board. I finally received a couple of MSP430F5438A's from TI - and am running tests now. The demo's performance is a little under what is expected - I am currently looking at the reason(s) for that now.

When I am satisfied with the demo - I will post the demo and port. I have also updated the files to the latest released from TI and the FreeRTOS version is the latest to date - 6.0.5.

If you'd like to see the demo before I officially post it - please drop me an e-mail and I will gladly send it to you.

As always, these demo's and posts of the ports contain no warranties, expressed or implied. You also need to review the latest errata on the version of the chip you are using, plus review whether or not your compiler vendor is incorporating the errata into their tools.

FreeRTOS Port For MSP-EXP430F5438 Posted

The FreeRTOS IAR Project for the MSP-EXP430F5438 has been posted to my site - please download by:

Known Issues with the Port:

*) Timer for LCD PWM needs to be fixed.

Misc:

To see the port run above 0xFFFF - you need to modify the linker command file - the command file is called out in the project - but it is not included with the files. Modify the code section appropriately to see code above the 64K Boundary running in the debugger.

For some reason, the Timer issue with the backlight control isn't such an issue if you are running with USB power and running the debugger - if you run with battery power, it is more pronounced. I will fix this issue shortly, or as an exercise, please feel free to move the LCD PWM Backlight timer to one of the many available timers.

Also - this is running the latest core as of this writing, v5.4.0.

Hello All,

I know it has been awhile since I wrote to my blog - but the good news is I have posted a project with the files for the 430X in a nice, easy to run project for FreeRTOS v.5.3.1. Please see the home page and/or:

TI CCE Project for FreeRTOS v.5.3.1 and the MSP430F541x/543x Processors - files are password protected. E-mail for the password.

The project was developed with the TI MSP-EXP430F5438 Rev.-03 board.

FreeRTOS v.4.7.1 'Small Model' Running On MSP430 Experimenter Board

I have the small memory model (IAR) running on the TI Experimenter board. The boards I have are '4619 based - but no big deal to change that.
